The Pumpkin Patch

….saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this Name?  And look you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”  Acts 5:28

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.  Acts 5:42

Preaching, teaching and healing in the name of Jesus.  So passionately on fire for the ways of God, and seeing others brought to that saving grace.  So full of Holy Spirit that the boldness flowed out of them and onto others.  The doctrine of Jesus Christ crucified, the only way to the Father made clear.

We live in a day much like Peter and the apostles lived in.  A time when our doctrine is called into question.  The divinely inspired Word of God called into question.  Praying in the name of Jesus forbidden.  But the doctrine of the world not only accepted, but expected.  Praying to Mohammed in public schools allowed.  Sermons being subpoenaed.  Pastors being censored.  Our doctrine, our very life blood being silenced.  Will we allow it?  Will we stand quietly by?  Will we allow in our silence, the blood of the unsaved, to fall on us?  Their final destination laid at our feet?

Or will we speak up and speak out?  Storming the gates of hell with our prayer and praise of the One, True God?  Daily, everywhere we go, preaching and teaching in the name of Jesus?  Will we see each day as a mission trip?

I want to share a true story that I saw on facebook.  This post is from my brother Douglas: “Today my children, grandchildren, and extended family went to Buckelew Farms Pumpkin Festival. As Darren Fowler Jr and Tiasia Fowler were buying 105 lbs of pumpkins, we had a young man wheel barrowing the 4 pumpkins to the van for tips. His name was John. I asked him if he was a Christian? He said “no”. I was able to tell John about Jesus and His death upon the cross. What that meant, of making us right with God, and there are only 2 choices in the end. Heaven or hell, and asked John where he wanted to go. John’s response was heaven and asked what he needed to do to get there. I shared with John, Romans 10:9, That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Great day for a mission trip. I did invite John to church. Please be praying for more divine appointments!”

Father, I want this boldness!  The boldness of Peter, the apostles, and my brother Douglas.  Dropping everything to tell someone about You.  Dropping everything to pray for who You lead me to.  My only agenda spreading Your doctrine, Your truth, Your love.  Give me the courage to walk boldly in the awareness of those around me, high beams on, ready with Your words of salvation.

  1. I, too, want that kind of boldness.
