It Is Finished!

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”  And bowing His head, He gave up His Spirit. John 19:30

“It is finished!” not “I am finished!”  Jesus had finished His assignment, what He came to earth to accomplish.  He had died so we could live.  He bore all of humanities sins, so we could be free.  He had defeated death, hell and the grave, so we could tell Satan who we are, the REDEEMED, and who he is, a loser.  But Jesus, Himself, wasn’t finished.  He sits at the right hand of the Father making intercessions for us, waiting for His orders to return to earth.

He had finished the work of the cross, but continues on.  The work of the cross for each one of us.  Yet we walk out our lives holding on to things that He died on the cross to free us from.  What are we holding onto, have left unfinished in our lives, that He died to finish?  What or whom do we need to give to Him?  To give up to free the Spirit in us to work mightier works in and through us?

“It is finished!”  As we look at that statement and analyze our lives what needs to be finished?  What needs to be laid down, never to be picked up again?  Anger, pride, rebellion, jealousy, greed?  He said, “It is finished!” is it?  Today choose to allow that statement to become truth, the truth He intended it to become.  Letting the reality of it sink in, knowing He won the victory for us.

Father, thank You for the redemptive work Jesus did on the cross for me!  Thank You that it is truly finished if we choose to accept and receive the victory.
