Then God blessed them, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on earth.” Gen. 1:28
God had created Adam and Eve, and then as every good father should do, He blessed them with the Father’s blessing and gave them instruction and direction for life. In His blessing and instruction, giving them authority over all living things on the earth.
As children of God (believers, Christians) we have received the Father’s blessing as well. We are son’s and daughters of God. We have been given authority and dominion in the Name above all names, Jesus. What are we doing with this authority, this dominion? Are we being fruitful and multiplying? Are we multiplying disciples for the kingdom of God? Bearing fruit in our lives that will outlive us? Are we filling the earth with praise to the King of kings, filling the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Have we taken our rightful place as co-heirs with Christ?
We have authority now in Jesus Name. We have dominion now in Jesus Name. We are to be fruitful and multiply souls for the Kingdom of God. Today we embark on a New Year. Will we start today, January 1, 2016, as a new beginning? Rising up as son’s and daughters of God, boldly proclaiming whose we are, who we are, and what we stand for, sharing His love?
Father, today I embark on another year. My desire, my heart is to make this one the most defining year of my life. Walking boldly as a daughter of God. Walking in love. Multiplying disciples, bearing fruit that will out live me. Being Your witness. Proclaiming the Gospel wherever I go. Seeing hearts and lives changed by You, for You.
